What! Sunny Leone turns 51-year-old Durgawati Singh in Ballia voters’ list
Sunny Leone made her appearance in the Voters’ list for Ballia constituency. Shocked? Well, yes, the news is true. The actress is not even an Indian citizen yet made it to the list. A scantily clad photo of the actress, however, appeared under a different name. It stated as Durgawati Singh and her age was mentioned as 51 years.
If this has not shocked you yet then there is more to it. This is not the only shocking thing in the revised Voters’ list prepared in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Photographs of a deer, an elephant and a pigeon also made to this so much crucial document. The name of Narad Rai, 56 year old had a picture of an African elephant. Times of India quoted a senior district official, “While the list carries the picture of a scantily clad woman resembling Leone in place of voter Durgawati Singh of Vivekanand Colony, it carries photograph of an elephant against the name of former cabinet minister Narad Rai and picture of a deer in place of Kunwar Ankur Singh.” This faults in the list were exposed after two pages of the same were leaked to media. It was prepared under the Election Commission’s directives and was shared on the official website on July 15. After the errors came into limelight, the administration looked into the matter and enquired the officials.
We found out on Aug 15 that voter IDs of around 7-8 voters are tampered with & their photos have been replaced with those of birds & animals. According to the reports, apart from the pictures, all the other informations were correct. The deputy district election officer informed that the mistakes were corrected on August 13 before the final list was issued. Also an FIR has been lodged against the operator with Ballia Kotwali police as there were reports of his involvement.
