We asked Saroj Khan about Jacqueline Fernandez’s Ek Do Teen from Baaghi 2 here’s what she said.
Madhuri Dixit’s Ek Do Teen is one of the most iconic dance numbers of Bollywood. So, firstly we must appreciate Jacqueline Fernandez’s courage when she agreed to do a new version for Baaghi 2. While the song’s not out, today we saw a teaser, which was a far sexier version than the original. Jacqueline sports the same multi-coloured outfit but the sparkling off shoulder top has been replaced with a bikini one with floral embroidery. The actress shows a lot of leg and is sultry as hell. The new number has been choreographed by Ahmed Khan and Ganesh Acharya. While Laxmikant – Pyarelal are the original composers of the foot-tapping number, the new song is slightly altered.
When BollywoodLife got in touch with choreographer Saroj Khan, who was the dance guru for the original and asked her how she felt about the new version, the lady refused to comment on it. We are guessing she might be waiting to see the full song before she develops an opinion on it. Or may be she is a little possessive about the original, and rightfully so. Madhuri Dixit had revealed in an interview that she had rehearsed for the original song for 16 days and it was shot over a week.
On her part, Jacqueline has maintained that her version is just a tribute to Madhuri. She said, “I can’t wait for Madhuri ma’am to watch the song. It is my tribute to her. Her performance in the original is unmatchable. Forget me, no one can ever come close to her.” She said it was a stressful call but she decided to go ahead with it. The costume for Jacqueline has been designed by Manish Malhotra. Ahmed Khan was keen to retain Madhuri’s hook steps and even Saroj Khan was present when the shoot was on.
