Shilpa Shetty husband Raj Kundra summoned by ED in connection with bitcoin scam
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Shilpa Shetty‘s businessman husband Raj Kundra today in Mumbai. He was questioned in connection with a Rs 2000-crore Bitcoin scam that is being probed into. According to reports, Kundra’s name cropped up when accused Amit Bharadwaj was being interrogated in the case.
Those dealing with bitcoins worth Rs 1 crore or more were recently sent notices by the Income Tax Department, and the names were also forwarded to ED. A probe was then initiated for possible money laundering and fraud. The nature of Kundra’s questioning is not yet clear. However, it is said that more names of Bollywood celebrities may crop up during further investigations.
This is not the first time Raj Kundra has been embroiled in a controversy. His name was last involved in the infamous IPL betting scandal that led him to a life ban from all cricket-related activities. He filed a petition in Supreme Court challenging the decision in March 2018 hoping to revoke the ban. Moreover, the IPL cricket team co-owned by Kundra, Rajasthan Royals, was also banned for two years.
In January this year, he was involved in a Twitter war with Sachiin Joshi as they called each other a fraud and the Twitter thread to their fight became quite long. Raj, who launched Indian Poker League last year called Sachiin out over non-payment of dues. While Raj accused Sachiin of owing him Rs 40 lakh, Sachiin accused Raj of rigging the tournament. Their non-stop bickering over the social media platform had become the talking point at that moment.
