Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson to shoot high octane aerial scenes for ‘2.0’ – Tamil filmmaker Shankar’s 2.0 to have hi-octane aerial scenes in the last schedule
Tamil filmmaker Shankar’s 2.0 to have hi-octane aerial scenes in the last schedule
National Award-winning Tamil filmmaker Shankar’s 2.0, which is a sequel to his Rajinikanth-starrer sci-fi blockbuster Robot (Enthiran), is almost 70 percent complete. On February 19, Amy Jackson, who plays the leading lady will kick off a 12-day, hi-octane action sequence with her co-stars, Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar, on a grand set erected on the outskirts of Chennai.
Amy told a tabloid, “I have shot for 2.0 over 70 days in the last year-and-a-half with Rajini sir. It has been an emotional journey. But now, it’s going to be a lot of aerial work and action for my final schedule.” For this gruelling fight sequence, special flying equipment have been sourced from the world’s largest theatrical company, the Canada-based Cirque du Soleil. This equipment will be transported to an expansive studio on the outskirts of Chennai. Also, stuntmen from Berlin, and a team of aerial action choreographers from Los Angeles, are already prepping for the sequence at the studio. Amy assures, “There is a lot of flying, air flips and aerial stunts, it is going to be unique.”
2.0 is being shot in 3D and will release simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Though Amy’s sequences wrap up in March, Rajinikanth and Akshay will have to film more portions together. The 25-year-old actress adds, “As I watched the edits and the special effects on Shankar’s suggestion, I’ve realised that this film has completely transformed me as an actor. I could understand better what was required of me while shooting for a 3D camera. I realise how monumental the stunts are going to be and it’s overwhelming.” She points out that the crew working on this film are the “crème de la crème” in their respective fields.
And though she is not afraid of heights, Amy confesses she didn’t think she was flexible enough to do the stunts, especially alongside Akshay Kumar, who is one of Bollywood’s fittest heroes and a long-time stunt expert. “I kicked up my yoga and meditation sessions to build my core strength and go running on a beach even during vacation to increase my physical balance,” Amy said.
