Kundali Bhagya actress Shraddha Arya opens up on MeToo says, ‘I have a very stark experience that always stayed in my mind’ – The MeToo movement has gained momentum all over India. In the past few days, Sajid Khan, Vikas Bahl, Subhash Ghai, Varun Grover, Luv Ranjan have been named by women on social media as offenders. The charges against some of them are quite shocking. Women are urging other women to come forward and narrate their experiences in the industry. With people losing out on work and reputation, mass purging seems to be happening now. Talking to the media from the sidelines of the Zee Rishtey Awards 2018, Shraddha Arya said that this movement was important. She also said that she faced a bad experience, which is still fresh on her mind. However, since it was a celebratory occasion, Shraddha refused to divulge more saying that it would rob the mood.
She said, “I think it takes immense courage to come out and speak about the experiences that have horrified you, that are harassing you in some corner of your mind. To speak about such things it takes immense courage and it is also reliving as you talk about it in open and people know that you had been holding back in your mind. I really support the Me Too movement and I just cannot understand people who just brush it off like ‘kya chal raha hai?’. This is very real and such things happen in this industry and everywhere else. Women are sometimes mistreated and manhandled, and I’m very glad that this movement is happening.”
Shraddha Arya is now seen as physiotherapist Preeta on Kundali Bhagya. She began her career in the entertainment industry with Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj. Stay tuned to BL for more scoops.
