Kangana Ranaut to put her directorial debut Teju on the backburner for a thriller? – Kangana has not done a mystery thriller so far.
Controversies’ favourite child, Kangana Ranaut, made headlines when she declared that she would soon be making her directorial debut with a film titled, Teju. But it seems like we will have to wait a while longer to see her directorial skills, since she might star in a thriller, before starting work on Teju. This yet-untitled flick will feature two male lead characters, while Kangana’s character will have shades of grey. As per a Mid-day report, a source close to the actress says, “Kangana’s role is nuanced and powerful. She loved the script as she felt it will give her a chance to showcase her acting skills again.” The actress might kickstart the shooting of this thriller in February next, post wrapping up Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. The source also adds that Shailesh R Singh, Prernaa Arora and Arjun N Kapoor, who are investing in the flick, are considering Rajkummar Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana as the male leads.
Shailesh R Singh, who earlier worked with Kangana Ranaut in Simran, and is backing Teju as well, says that the thriller won’t affect the schedule of her directorial debut. “Kangana has not done a mystery thriller so far. That’s why we wanted to bring her on board. We’re currently in talks with her. Teju will require about six to eight months of prep before it goes on floors. So, we want to shoot the thriller in the meantime,” he asserts.
Kangana Ranaut had earlier announced that she is turning director with her home production, Teju, in which she’ll be essaying the role of an elderly woman. “I will play an 80-year-old woman in my first directorial, Teju. The film will be about every old person I know and have loved. It will also be a lot about me as I am older than my years,” she said in a statement. Kangana further described the character and said, “She (her character) is a warm, vibrant woman, full of life, who doesn’t feel old at all.
