After a disastrous mix up in edit, a sub-par show and the whole nepotism row, looks like IIFA Awards 2017 has made the headlines once again for all the wrong reasons. According to a report in India Today, the IIFA organisers had apparently promised an onstage performances by Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra in New York. However, neither Priyanka nor SRK showed up. This disappointed a lot of guests and they are now demanding back their money from the organisers.

According to the same report, IIFA’s promotional materials, that were distributed in New York, promised to have Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra on the same stage for the first time in USA. But after this did not happen, the angry fans have started to reach out to their credit card companies and the organisers, demanding a refund of the costly tickets. They are even considering to take legal action against them. A few of them even called for a US-wide ban for the organisers’ false claims and fraudulent marketing.

In fact, apart from SRK, Salman and Priyanka, the IIFA Awards 2017 was also advertised with the tagline – “Hollywood meets Bollywood on one stage.” The promotional brochures even had pictures of Hollywood stars like Meryl Streep and Matt Damon. But none of these Hollywood stars showed up at the event, according to reports in India Today and The American Bazaar.

But, the organisers of IIFA have used a clever strategy to get out of this whole mess. In fact, they can even refuse the demands of a refund because they had added an easy-to-miss disclaimer on the brochure, which read as, “All images used in this document are for representation purposes and we don’t claim the presence of these individuals at the event unless the same is advertised on our website.
