Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

While Kajol was a part of the super hit band wagon, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai went on to become an all-time blockbuster in India and overseas. Words can’t really do justice to the magic of DDLJ. Its iconic, it’s a classic and every Indian girl’s dream! And who thought missing a train could be so romantic? Raj and Simran’s love tale became a rage that made Shah Rukh and Kajol one of the most loved on screen jodis of hindi cinema. DDLJ set the record at its time for the most Filmfare awards won by a single film. Kajol won the award in the Best Actress category.

Who could have thought that your favourite actress can actually turn into a vamp? Well, Kajol proved just that with her movie, Gupt. The movie is a suspense thriller starring Manisha Koirala and Bobby Deol in the lead. This was one of the first movies of its time where an actress plays an unabashed negative role.

Kajol’s performance managed to elevate the film’s climax and take it to a popcorn-friendly crescendo. We would love to see her get off mainstream cinema and take up a contrasting nail-biting role like this.

Fanna marked the comeback of Kajol to the silver screen after a gap of 5 years post K3G. And boy was it worth the wait! She essayed the role of a Kashmiri blind girl torn by love and fear of her lover with such finesse that it makes one agree that this kind of complex work is only her cup of tea! It was also the first time we saw Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir Khan and Kajol romancing each other. Their crackling chemistry set the screen ablaze and this tale of tragic love became an instant hit.
