Model Gigi Hadid, who was planning to visit India to promote her collaboration with clothing label Tommy Hilfiger, has postponed her trip due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Gigi Hadid’s visit to Mumbai on April 27 has been postponed,” read an official statement.
In case you folks don’t know, Gigi has tied up with Tommy to come up with a trendy Spring 2017 collection. The model was coming to the country to promote her collaborative collection — Tommy X Gigi. “Tommy Hilfiger’s global brand ambassador Gigi Hadid looks forward to presenting the collaborative collection and meet with fans at a later date,” the statement further read. Ouch! That is a bummer. But we do hope to see the star soon in India.
It was reported that Gigi’s visit was to be hosted by our very own fashionista Sonam Kapoor and her sister Rhea Kapoor, and cousin Arjun Kapoor. Yep, the Neerja actress was to be with her during the launch of her product line, show Gigi the city a little during her visit, and a dinner was also on the itinerary. The dinner was to be mainly hosted by Arjun and Rhea, and was to be attended by just around 40 guests, including Anil Kapoor. Well, ‘was’ being the operative word here.
The West has certainly realised the potential that is there in the Indian market. No wonder Hollywood is taking extra measures to promote their products and films in the country. Earlier, Kendall Jenner also came to India, secretly. She shot for a project with Sushant Singh Rajput. Though we are yet to see those pictures.
