It sure must have taken a lot for Gaurav Arora to face the cameras again after his sex-change operation. He now goes by the name of Gauri Arora and it is under this name and this avatar that he participated in MTV’s show, India’s Next Top Model. However, in today’s episode, Gauri Arora was ousted from the show. Shocked?
Gaurav Arora, who shot to fame with the eighth season of MTV Splitsvilla, underwent a reconstruction surgery last year, and has been in news since. Gaurav recently auditioned for the third season of India’s Next Top Model, which is being judged by Milind Soman, Malaika Arora, Neeraj Gaba and Dabboo Ratnani. After listening to her story the judges couldn’t help but applaud her courage. But Gaurav aka Gauri had also mentioned that she is still recovering after having undergone such a major surgery. Apparently, the makers of the show, while respecting Gauri’s participation thought that it would be apt for her to recover fully before participating in a show that required the contestants to perform certain tasks involving physical exertion.
When told about this, Gauri’s immediate reaction was, “I had thought my gender could be a problem.” To this, the host immediately clarified and said that she was being shown the door not because of her gender but because she had herself confessed that the recovery process post surgery was not yet complete. Post this, Gauri gracefully made her exit. Well, this was just one show, Gauri. We are sure that with your grit and determination, you can take on the world. And besides, there’s always the next season of the show to look forward too. By then we are sure that Gauri’s recovery process will be complete and she will be much more adept for the tasks that are required of the contestants.
