Firangi actress Ishita Dutta on the casting couch Unfortunate that in every industry, there are people who take advantage of those needy

Firangi actress Ishita Dutta on the casting couch Unfortunate that in every industry, there are people who take advantage of those needy – Despite being two film old, Ishita is trying to take up topics that most actresses shy away from.

Ishita Dutta made her foray into Bollywood with a non-stream yet powerful role. She played Ajay Devgn’s daughter in the Hindi remake of Drishyam. Even in her debut performance, she garnered good reviews. Thanks to this, she landed a role in Kapil Sharma’s film, Firangi, that is all set to hit theatres soon. However, there’s more to Ishita than just a pretty face. The actress, who happens to be the younger sister of Tanushree Dutta, has already started speaking up for issues that are close to her heart.

In an interview for the #MeToo campaign that encourages women to share stories of incidences of molestation, the actress shared her ordeal as well. She shared horror stories of how she was molested and harassed while on her way to college. However, she also was quick to add that she always gave it back to them. Calling out those who shame the victim, she lashed out, saying, “My lifestyle is not an opportunity for a sick-minded man to harass me. Why does society dictate a girl to live her life with certain norms? I think the perspective should be changed.

Talking about things in Bollywood and the existence of the casting couch, she said, “I think I am very fortunate to have my sister, who is always there to guide me and my food and lodging has been taken care of. Since my basic need of life is secure, when it comes to working, I never appeared like a desperate struggler who needs the job to run the kitchen. It is unfortunate that in every industry, there are people who take advantage of needy people, but I would like to tell all the budding actors not to be vulnerable and always have a backup plan because rejection in auditions and films is not the end of the world. Self respect and dignity are more important for a woman than success.”
