Dubai authorities give clearance for repatriation of Sridevi’s mortal remains to India.
Sridevi’s sad demise took a tragic twist when even after two days Dubai authorities didn’t hand over the mortal remains to the family. The autopsy suggests accidental drowning as the cause of death. Further, investigation suggested that there was a head injury. Boney Kapoor has been questioned by the Dubai authorities already. His son Arjun Kapoor has flown back to UAE to be with his father in this time of distress. We can’t call this a sigh of relief, but as per the latest reports Dubai authorities have given clearance and the body is being taken for embalming.
Embalming is the process of preserving a near decaying dead-body through chemicals. This hints that the autopsy is complete and there will be no more cuts made on Sridevi’s mortal remains. Reports also suggest that the mortal remains of Sridevi will be handed over to the authorities in next 5 to 6 hours. After that, the process of repatriation will be taken care of by the Indian authorities.
The Delhi police along with the public prosecutor have apparently completed their investigation. As Khaleej Times tweeted, “Dubai Police has handed over the @cgidubai and the family members letters for the release of the mortal remains of the Indian cinema icon Sridevi Boney Kapoor so that they can proceed for embalming.”
A report has suggested that a jet plane, courtesy the Ambanis, is on standby to help transport the body as quickly as possible to India. Back in India, for the past two days celebs have been arriving at Anil Kapoor’s place to pay their last respects. The funeral will take place soon after the body reaches India.
