Twitter can’t get over Deepika’s moves in the Ghoomar song from Padmavati,
With a month and few days to go for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati release, the excitement around this magnum opus is growing by leaps and bounds. The makers set the ball rolling when they unveiled the much anticipated trailer that gave us a glimpse of the glorious tale to come. Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmini was a sight to behold, while Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh left in awe over with their transformations. Now to add to all that wonder and marvel, the makers have released the first song – Ghoomar. It is a traditional Rajasthani dance performed by Rajput princesses and Queens. It usually involves delicate hand and leg movements along with twirling around in circles! Deepika Padukone along with the dance troupe has done complete justice. Her grace, hip movements and her expressions throughout have left fans speechless! And apart form this, the song is a visual treat. The colours, the lighting, the grand costumes create an imagery in your head that won’t be forgotten soon.
The scene where Deepika dances with the two lit diyas is mesmerising as she carries out effortlessly. Ghoomar will always be a special for the makers as it marked the beginning of Padmavati – “The shooting of the film began with this song and I’ll never forget that day. I remember approaching my mark for the first shot. It was almost as if Padmavati’s soul had entered my body. I could feel her presence; and, in fact, I still do.” To top it all, this song is sung by Shreya Ghosal. Need we say more?
