For Karan Johar’s 45th birthdy bash in May, Deepika wore a pretty black fit and flare lace mini dress from Self-Portrait with a slit and mesh inserts. Lending a minimal vibe to her look were a pair of black pumps, sleek hair left down open and a minimal makeup of bold eyes

The song featured a ravishing Deepika swaying sensuously in a stunning Philipp Plein gown with cut-out details and spikes and a bold thigh-high slit on either side showing off her toned calves. She wore bold strappy stiletos and sported tousled hair, courtesy Gabriel Georgiou and smokey eyes, bold eyebrows and nude matte lips, courtesy Namrata Soni. A pair of metallic cuffs on one hand and a set of rings on all the fingers wound up this look styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania.

Red Carpet Drama

Wearing a customised Swapnil Shinde gown, Deepika teamed it with a pearl necklace by Farah Ali Khan and rings by Anmol Jeweller and a voluminous updo for IIFA 2016.

For the Star Screen Awards 2016, Deepika donned a customised Gauri and Nainika black gown with oversized floral embellishments, ruffles, and a racy cutout with a makeup of winged eyes and nude lips and earrings by Aurelle. A messy bun and open black sandals rounded up her look.

Clinching the HT Most Stylish Global Icon Award, Deepika was styled by Shaleena Nathani and wore a black cold-shoulder flared top and flared pants, both from Milly with shoulder-grazing earrings from Outhouse Jewellery. Makeup and hair stylist Daniel Bauer gave Deepika a messy and slightly spiked tied up half top hairdo along with dark eyes and strong eyebrows.

As the official photo shoot was unveiled, announcing Deepika Padukone as the newest face of the cosmetic giant, Deepika wore a black Rutu Neeva jumpsuit and sported wrist cuffs and a ring. Purple-pink toned bold eyes and mauve matte lips, courtesy Anil Chinappa and wavy hair, courtesy Gabriel Georgiou along with a pair of chunky open toed heels rounded up her look.

For her stint on this talk show for promoting xXx: Return of Xander Cage on this talk show, Deepika chose a Wolk Morais velvet jumpsuit by the designer duo, Brian Wolk and Claude Morais, with a pair of black Jimmy Choo and was styled by Elizabeth Saltzman and her team. She sported classic beach waves, courtesy Christian Wood and a barely-there makeup, accentuated with nude pink lips and a winger eyeliner, courtesy Hung Vanngo.

Airport Chic

Deepika’s peppy jacket from the H&M x Kenzo collab-collection is totally rad over a basic black tank top and leggings, rounding up the look with black shoes and a Gucci Dionysus tote.

Wearing a black oversize H&M dress replete with a ruffled net hemline and white Nike sneakers, her favourite Chanel tote was a perfect style companion. With her hair tied in a slick low back pony and wearing black round sunnies, Deepika Padukone’s airport look is nothing less than chic!

Flaunting a layered black avatar of a black top with fitted leather pants, thigh high boots, a jacket and the signature Chanel tote, Deepika made black the official colour of travel.

At the trailer launch of her Hollywood flick, Deepika packed a powerful punch in a La Senza bodysuit teamed with black Zara boots.

Unveiling the trailer of XXX: Return Of Xander Cage on Bigg Boss Season 10, Deepika flaunted a Balmain for H&M beaded dress with thigh high Sergio Rossi boots.

At the screening of the movie, Deepika paired a bomber jacket and joggers with Louboutin pumps. A layered gold necklace and bold red lips further accentuated her look.

Going vintage for a brand launch, Deepika donned a velvet loose fit dress by Sabyasachi, accessorising with a clustered pearl Isharya necklace, a Saint Laurent shoulder bag, and ankle-strap sandals.

Going classic with a Michael Kors dress and coral Aquazzura stilettos, Deepika looked fabulous with minimal makeup and sans accessories.

Whether it’s zooming across the globe or making those grand red carpet appearances, Deepika Padukone seems besotted by black and certainly lives by the mantra, ‘I will stop wearing black when they invent a darker colour.’ Black is certainly the new black, darling, bring it on!
