Alia Bhatt has stepped up as the brand ambassador for an organization called Coexist, with a view to promote welfare of animals and also adoption of street animals as pets.
It is a known fact that Alia Bhatt has a soft spot for animals. On various occasions, she has expressed her love for animals, especially cats and dogs. Heck, she even has many cats as pets. With that itself, she has gained a lot of our respect. But thanks to her latest initiative for the welfare of animals, we’re bowing down to her! The diva has stepped up as the brand ambassador for an organisation called Coexist, with a view to promote welfare of animals and also adoption of street animals as pets. On the same, the diva said, “Street cats and dogs are often subjected to immense cruelty because of the misconceptions surrounding them. Living on the streets, they have no safe shelter, are injured or run over by callous drivers and are left traumatized from the loud sounds of firecrackers and loudspeakers, during festivals and events. Through this campaign, we hope to change attitudes and help people embrace a sensitive approach towards our strays.”
All the animal lovers out there will surely be able to relate to Alia’s new initiative. We laud the actress for taking up such a sensitive issue that isn’t usually a matter of concern for people. “They provide us with the same amount of love and loyalty as any other breed. If adopting an animal for your home is not a possibility, then be compassionate to the animals in your locality – by looking out for them and ensuring they are vaccinated and sterilized.” said Alia, who herself has a rescued pet cat, Sheeba. In a video released by Alia on Coexist’s Facebook page, she stated the necessity of this initiative as she signed off, “Visit our blog and our Facebook page to know how you can make a difference.” Check out the video below.
Apart from Alia, even Anushka Sharma is an avid animal lover. Every Diwali and even Holi, the actress has championed campaigns to promote protection of animals from noise and foul colour. It’s difficult to reach out to people on the topic of welfare of animals, especially the ones on the street. However, with celebs stepping up to spread the word, it’s actually working! A lot of people have been adopting street cats and dogs as pets, many are boycotting fire crackers for their pets and much more. Things are changing for the good. Hope Alia’s this initiative comes to fruition too.
